1. Data we collect

We collect only what we need to run the marketplace:

• Account data — name, email address, phone number, password hash and account type (client or vendor).
• Enquiry data — event type, date, city, guest count, budget range and the message you send to a vendor.
• Vendor data — business name, registration details, portfolio images, pricing, service areas and references.
• Technical data — IP address, device and browser type, and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

2. How we use it

• To create and secure your account and authenticate you.
• To pass your enquiry to the vendors you choose and let them reply.
• To verify vendor businesses and moderate reviews and listings.
• To improve search, recommendations and site performance.
• To send service messages, and marketing emails only where you have opted in.
• To meet legal, tax and regulatory obligations.

3. Legal basis

We rely on your consent (marketing and non-essential cookies), the performance of a contract (running your account and enquiries), our legitimate interests (fraud prevention, platform security and improvement) and legal obligation where applicable.

4. Sharing

When you send an enquiry, the details you provide are shared with the vendor(s) you selected so they can quote. We also use trusted processors for hosting, email delivery and analytics, who act only on our instructions.

We never sell your personal data. We disclose data to authorities only where legally required.

5. Cookies

Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember your consent choice. Analytics and marketing cookies are only set after you accept them in our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

6. Retention

Account data is kept while your account is active and for up to 24 months afterwards. Enquiry records are kept for 24 months to resolve disputes. Anything we must retain for tax or legal reasons is kept for the period the law requires.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, and access to production data is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us at once if you suspect a problem.

8. Your rights

You may request access to your data, correction of inaccuracies, deletion, restriction of processing, a portable copy, or withdrawal of consent at any time. Email hello@eventnaija.com and we will respond within 30 days.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

9. Children

EventNaija is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
